All non-liquid BOM products are packaged in reusable and environmentally-sound containers made in partnership with the Mezimbite Forest Center and its associated cooperatives.
timber valued is timber replanted
The aim of the MFC is to work with the people who live on forest land to balance timber harvesting with replanting, and to employ workers and train them in sustainable, value-added production activities that generate income while contributing to the management of the forest. Based in areas with few opportunities for skills development, local artisans at the woodworking cooperatives receive professional training from master craftsmen.
Alongside a wood workshop for high-end items such as furniture, jewelry and home accessories, the MFC also operates Mozambique's largest reforestry initiative for indigenous species, with an extended network of community nursuries in four provinces, which plant over 150,000 indigenous trees per year.
Further maximizing the value from each tree harvested, many BOM product containers are turned from second-recovery timber remaining after the production of furniture and wood-wind instrument blanks.
